Without awareness of
bodily feeling and attitude, a person becomes split into a disembodied
spirit and a disenchanted body.
Alexander Lowen
Therapy
is sometimes known as the talking cure. But we can talk a great deal
and still not get to the point. A huge amount of information is communicated
by body language. And yet we can be stuck up in our heads and very out of
contact with what our body is saying. Till it starts shouting and we
experience pain!
Noticing
what is happening in our bodies and paying attention to our breathing is
essential to a feeling of total aliveness.
When
approached with compassion and curiosity physical symptoms, acute or
chronic, and however scary, can bring us much insight into ourselves.
There is
deep wisdom within our very flesh, if we can only come to our senses and
feel it.
